Who is Running the Show in NYC's Chinatown?
The long arm of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has influenced the make-up of today's Chinese New Year parade in New York City's Chinatown with disturbing ramifications for both the Chinese community as well as the freedoms enjoyed by Americans more broadly. Despite running an advertisement in Chinese language media indicating that everyone is welcome to participate, an application from the local Falun Gong association to participate in the parade was rejected by parade organizers, saying the rejection was “due to the unsettled conflict your organization has with numerous community groups.”

U.S. Department of Justice Decree an Important Step in Ending Chinese Communist Party Persecution of Falun Gong Overseas
The U.S. Department of Justice filed a consent decree on Thursday acknowledging that a Chinese restaurant in Flushing had acted inappropriately when refusing to serve Falun Gong practitioners in 2008 and that the restaurant will take various actions to prevent future discrimination. The decision represents an important precedent in resisting Chinese Communist Party (CCP) efforts to extend the persecution of Falun Gong beyond China’s borders, the Falun Dafa Information Center said Monday

Fueled by Olympics, Falun Gong Persecution Escalated Sharply in 2008
The Communist Party’s campaign against Falun Gong escalated sharply in 2008 as China’s rulers took advantage of the Olympic games to catalyze and justify the large-scale arrest, imprisonment, and monitoring of Chinese citizens known to adhere to the spiritual practice, the Falun Dafa Information Center said in an annual report published on Tuesday.

Beijing Exports Repressive Agenda
An elderly man is surrounded by an angry crowd, who chant “traitor” in unison and denounce him as a political enemy. He is accused of betraying the motherland, and for his alleged crime, he is punched, strangled, and spat on in a scene of public humiliation, as communist red flags wave in the background. It’s a scene reminiscent of the Cultural Revolution that wreaked chaos in China in the 60s and 70s. Yet this scene did not take place in China, nor in decades past. This occurred just weeks ago, in one of the most diverse and progressive places in the world – New York City.
